UNITRANS: U-STAR’s new Speech Translation app

UNITRANS is the latest speech translation app for Android that translates your speech or text into different languages. UNITRANS supports 30 languages including dialects, and can be downloaded here for free. Among the features of this new app are its easy-to-use interface, and a useful Save Phrase function where users can save phrases likely to be used often, along with their translations.

UNITRANS utilizes high-precision speech recognition, translation, and speech synthesis technologies developed by institutes and universities who are members of the USTAR Consortium. It translates spoken words into different languages and outputs the results in a synthesized voice. The translation direction can be instantly switched, which means that 2 people speaking different languages can communicate using the same device. Text input is available for languages that do not support speech input. For more on how to use the app, press the help. UNITRANS app is also localised for a few languages.

Suggested Uses:
UNITRANS is initially designed for simple conversations which are travel related for use in activities such as transportation, eating out, shopping, and overseas travel. However users are highly encouraged to use UNITRANS in situations where their particular location would most have a need for speech translation. 2 possible use scenarios are in hospitals interacting with foreign hospital personnel, and interactively communicating to help foreign tourists in your own country. If you have such use cases, please speak to us.
